How to Clone a Voice in Narrator's Voice: Step by Step

Listen to this article0:00 / --:--

Want to type a sentence and hear it in your own voice, or in another voice you have permission to use? With Instant Voice Cloning in Narrator's Voice, you upload a sample or record one on your phone, create the voice and then use it to narrate new text.

The voice stays saved so you can use it again. When you need another narration, just change the text: you don't have to clone the voice again for every audio.

The screenshots below follow each step in the app, with red marks where you need to tap. Tap any screenshot to enlarge it.

You upload or record the sample once. After that, the saved voice narrates other text.

Before you start

You need a sample with at least 10 seconds of audio, where the voice is clear and nobody else is talking at the same time. It can be a file saved on your phone or a recording you make in the app.

For better results, record somewhere quiet, avoid background music and speak naturally. If you send several samples, use the same voice and keep the recording conditions similar.

  1. 1 Open the cloning tab

On the Create screen, tap the two-person icon in the middle of the bottom bar. It opens the voice cloning area.

Tap the middle icon in the bottom bar to see your cloned voices.
  2. 2 Tap "Clone New Voice"

On the Clone Voice screen, tap the green Clone New Voice button.

If this is your first clone, the screen shows the message "No cloned voices yet". This is where your voices will appear after you create them.

The Clone New Voice button starts the process.
  3. 3 Choose between uploading a file and recording audio

There are two ways to provide the sample:

    • Upload audio file

Pick a recording already saved on your phone, such as a WhatsApp voice message you saved as a file.

Once the app detects at least 10 seconds of audio, tap Next and skip to step 5.

    • Record audio

Make a new recording with your phone's microphone without leaving the app.

      Go on to step 4.

The screen also has a Remove background noise from audio recordings option. It can help when the sample has some noise, but a clean recording is still the best place to start.

Choose one of the two ways to add audio. The Next button becomes available once the sample reaches the required minimum.
  4. 4 Record, listen and save the sample

When you choose Record audio, allow microphone access if your phone asks for it. Record the voice speaking naturally for at least 10 seconds, keeping an eye on the timer and the maximum length shown on the screen.

You can read a short passage, for example:

Hi! I'm recording a sample of my voice to create new narrations. I want to use this voice in my videos, my messages and other projects. I'll speak calmly and naturally so the recording stays clear from start to finish.

When you finish, tap the play button to listen. To improve the sample, use Re-record. If everything sounds right, tap Save recording.

Check the recording before you save it. The "min 00:10" mark shows the minimum length.

After saving, you go back to the samples screen. Tap Next to continue.

  5. 5 Name the voice and finish cloning

Now fill in the details for your new voice:

    1. In Voice name, type a name that is easy to recognize, such as "My voice" or "Video narration".
    2. In Language, select the language of the sample. For a recording in American English, choose the United States option.
    3. Read the statement and confirm that you have the rights or consents needed to clone the voice and that you won't use the content for illegal, fraudulent or harmful purposes.
    4. Tap Clone Voice and wait for processing to finish.
Fill in the details, confirm the statement and tap Clone Voice to finish.

Your cloned voice is private: only you have access to it in the app. Once it's created, it's available for your next narrations.

  6. 6 Type some text and generate your first audio

With cloning done, select the voice you just created on the Create screen. Type or paste the text you want to turn into speech and tap Generate audio.

Start with a short sentence to hear the result. For example:

This is my first narration made with a cloned voice in Narrator's Voice.

Listen, adjust the text if needed and generate it again. When you're happy with it, save the audio as an MP3 or share it.

From then on, you can create new lines with the same voice without recording each script or uploading the sample again.

Where can you use audio made with a cloned voice?

You can use the audio generated with your cloned voices anywhere you like, including commercial projects. Narrator's Voice doesn't limit it to a specific platform.

  • YouTube, TikTok, Reels and Shorts: create narration for your videos, including monetized ones.
  • CapCut and other editors: import the MP3 and pair the voice with your footage.
  • WhatsApp and messages: send notes and invitations with personalized audio.
  • Ads and client work: produce voiceovers for campaigns, presentations and product videos.
  • Classes, stories and podcasts: use the voice in whatever formats suit your project.

Tips for a better cloned voice

  • Go for clarity. Choose a recording with crisp speech and no music, heavy echo or conversations in the background.
  • Keep a natural tone. Record the way you usually talk, without forcing a different voice.
  • Avoid distorted or very quiet audio. Listen to the sample before you send it.
  • Punctuate the text. Commas, periods and question marks help structure the narration.
  • Test a short passage first. That way you can check the pronunciation and adjust the script before generating a longer text.

How similar and natural the result sounds can vary with the quality of the sample and the text being narrated.
