How to Filter and Choose Voices in Narrator's Voice
In Narrator's Voice, you get access to more than 10,000 voices across over 70 languages, with different speaking styles, speech synthesis technologies and usage limits. There are voices suited for professional videos, fun messages with effects and long-form reading.
With so many options in the list, the fastest way to find the right fit is to use the app's voice filters. They let you narrow the search by language, Premium status, gender, effects, character limit and credit cost.

Over 10,000 voices for different kinds of projects
The voice you choose shapes how listeners take in your message. A natural, expressive delivery works well for a professional video, while a casual voice or one with sound effects makes a message to friends much more fun.
When you want to listen to a long document, article or book, the priority shifts: you need a voice that stays comfortable to hear over long stretches and supports a high character limit so you do not have to split the text into many pieces.
1 Open the voice selection screen
On the Create screen, tap the voice selector button at the top. That opens the full voice list where you can browse options and set up your search.
Tap the voice selector at the top of the Create screen to open the voice list. 2 Select the servers and language
On the Select a voice screen, tap the server selector on the left and switch it to "---- All ---". That way, your search covers voices across every server in the app.
Next to it, use the language selector to pick the language for your narration. Your server and language choice works independently from the attribute filters in the next step.
Choose "---- All ---" under servers, pick your language and tap the funnel icon on the right. 3 Open the voice attribute filters
Tap the filter icon on the right side, next to the search bar, to open the Select Voice Attributes screen. There you will see five criteria to narrow down the list.
4 Get to know the five available attributes
You can pick a single attribute or combine several depending on what your project needs:
- 1. Premium: Separates voices marked as Premium (Yes or No) from the rest, based on how the app classifies each voice.
- 2. Gender: Filters between Male, Female and Not determined voices, which helps when casting characters or matching a specific narration style.
- 3. Effects: Finds voices that support modification effects such as Cave, Singer and Monster, great for characters, comedy skits and playful messages.
- 4. Character limit: Shows the maximum number of characters allowed per audio generation, such as 500, 1000, 5000, 10000 or Unlimited. This matters most when narrating books, study guides and long documents.
- 5. Price per character: Shows how many credits are charged per character of text. Use it to find Free voices or options at different rates (0.5x, 1.0x, 2.0x, 3.0x) so you can manage your credit balance.
5 Check how many voices match
After selecting your attributes, check the counter near the bottom of the screen (for example, 748 voices found). It updates right away to show how many voices match your filter combination.
If only a few options show up, switch one of the attributes back to All to broaden the results.
Set the five attributes, check the voices found counter and tap Apply. 6 Apply the filters
Once you are happy with your selection, tap Apply in the bottom-right corner. To clear your choices and start over, tap Reset.
7 Pick your voice and test a sample
You will return to the Select a voice screen, now filtered to the voices that match your criteria. Before settling on one, run a short line from your script to hear how the voice handles it:
Hi! This is a quick test to check the pacing, clarity and tone of this voice for my project.
The best voice for a project is the one that fits what you are making, which is not always the newest or highest-cost option in the list. Listen to a few samples before you decide.
Which voice should you use for each type of project?
Here is how to combine the filters for the most common situations in the app:
1. For listening to books, documents and long articles
When you want to turn a book, document, web article or study guide into audio, prioritize voices that can handle long passages in a single generation.
Recommended filters:
- Character limit: Unlimited or 10000.
- Gender: pick whichever you prefer listening to.
- Premium and Price per character: set according to your account and text length.
A low character limit forces you to split long text into many smaller chunks. A high or unlimited cap makes long material much easier to work with. Also look for a tone that stays pleasant over long listening sessions.
2. For professional video narration with AI voices
Company videos, presentations, ads and social media posts usually call for natural, expressive and steady delivery.
Recommended filters:
- Premium: Yes.
- Price per character: All.
This combination shows all Premium voices without locking your search to a single credit rate. Newer AI speech synthesis models offer more natural intonation and pacing, though it is still worth testing a line from your own script before generating the final audio.
3. For funny messages and character voices
Want to send a joke to friends, do a monster voice or give a skit a distinct sound? Filter for voices that support effects.
Recommended filters:
- Effects: Yes (then choose the effect you want on the voice).
In the Simplified Effects screen, you can try options like Cave, Singer and Monster on the same sentence to compare how they sound.
4. For making audio when you are low on credits
Even when your credit balance is running low, you can still find voices that do not charge credits per character.
Recommended filters:
- Premium: Yes.
- Price per character: Free.
This combination surfaces voices classified as Premium whose per-character cost is free in the app. Keep in mind your account access and the character limit of each voice.
5. For classic internet voices
Voices that became famous in classic memes, Machinima videos and old-school internet narrations have a style of their own. If you are looking for classic Loquendo voices that blew up online, such as Dave, Steven or Simon, start with voices outside the Premium tier.
Recommended filters:
- Premium: No.
Filter for non-Premium voices first, then browse the list and play samples until you spot the classic style you want.
6. For switching between male and female voices
Voice gender can shape a character, set the mood of a message or change how listeners perceive a narration.
Recommended filters:
- Gender: Male, Female or Not determined.
Use this filter to quickly narrow the list. Since gender alone does not tell you whether a voice is deep, upbeat or calm, play a few samples before choosing.
7. For dialogues between multiple characters
If you are producing a story, audio drama, fictional chat or multi-speaker script, giving each character a distinct voice helps listeners follow who is speaking.
Recommended filters:
- Gender: mix options to match each character.
- Effects: optional, when a character needs a special sound.
- Premium and Price per character: set according to your project.
Pick voices with contrasting timbres and pacing for each role so the dialogue stays clear from start to finish.
8. For producing large volumes of audio while managing costs
When you need to generate a lot of audio for courses, serialized content or training materials, per-character cost and generation limits matter.
Recommended filters:
- Price per character: compare Free options and credit-based rates.
- Character limit: 10000 or Unlimited, when available.
- Premium: set based on the voices you want to use.
Weigh the credit cost, voice quality and character limit together before locking in a voice for a large batch of scripts.

Frequently asked questions
Why do only a few voices show up in my search?
Make sure the server selector at the top of the Select a voice screen is set to "---- All ---" and that you picked the right language. If the list is still short, open Select Voice Attributes and reset one of the filters to All.
What does Price per character mean?
It shows how many credits are used for each character of text when you generate audio. Many voices in the app have unlimited use and appear under Free; others use credits, which are included with every Premium subscription renewal.
How do I find classic Loquendo voices like Dave, Steven or Felipe?
Pick the language of the voice on the Select a voice screen, open Select Voice Attributes and set Premium to No. Apply the filter and browse the list to hear the samples.
Which filter should I use for long texts and books?
In Select Voice Attributes, set Character limit to 10000 or Unlimited. That lets you generate much longer passages without splitting chapters into tiny parts.
Can I use the generated audio in monetized videos?
Yes. Audio created in Narrator's Voice can be used in commercial projects, including monetized YouTube and TikTok videos, ads and client work.
